Orofacial Pain and TMJ Disorder
Orofacial pain (OFP) and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMD) can be quite debilitating for some people. These conditions can be complex and therefore one form of treatment may not suffice.
Myofunctional therapy may assist sufferers of OFP and TMD especially if an orofacial myofunctional disorder may be the root cause of the problem. Incorrect swallow/chewing patterns, tongue tie, chronic mouth breathing, low tongue rest posture, tongue thrust, sleep disordered breathing and nail biting can be contributing factors and a course of therapy will help establish healthy habits again.
